Foreign Trade Data vs. Material Master

Why is a company’s central source for retrieving material-specific data, as stored in individual material master records, also one of the most complex types of data? Looking at this only from a trade compliance perspective, even then material masters are often regarded as the core of trade compliance.

During this workshop we will take a look at activities in business operations and stakeholders that are directly or indirectly affected by material masters and consequently by trade compliance. All these activities lead to the determination of so called foreign trade data such as goods classifications, country of origin and conformity indicators.  But who is or feels responsible for this data and ensures compliance?

This and more will be discussed during the workshop on the basis of various practical examples.

Intrastat modernizations 2020 & VAT Action plan

Do you also wonder what the future of Intrastat and VAT will look like?

In the last year, Eurostat is working very hard on the Intrastat Framework Regulation Integrating Business Statistics (FRIBS) project. Setting up the project, retrieving information from the businesses via surveys, developing plans and getting this executed. Mr. Karo Nuortila has worked for Eurostat for more than 10 years and is directly involved in the FRIBS project. We are very pleased that Mr Nuortila will attend our Compliance Cruise in order to provide our guests with more insight in, e.g.

  • The history of Intrastat
  • The purpose and plans of the FRIBS project
  • Feedback obtained from businesses so far
  • Progress and planning of the new Intrastat reporting requirements

In addition, Mr. Nuortila is also very interested to learn about your concerns and/or get your feedback on the topics discussed, as you - company representatives - will be able to provide more insight in the consequences for the business. Therefore, we would like to encourage our workshop participants to share their concerns and/or comments!

Besides the Intrastat modernization, we will also discuss elements of the VAT action plan and discuss whether FRIBS is also linked to these developments. Another point of attention is the developments in the VAT compliance we have seen in the past years. Companies are more and more required to report their transactions electronically and much quicker than we were used to. Where are these developments leading and what should we prepare for?
